Irina
Piano playing was always the main focus in
Irina Cottone's
career. Her musical world has no geographical,
social or stylistic boundaries.
After training in Latvian State Conservatory under the leadership of outstanding professors who heritated the best
traditions of both - European and Russian schools - her
activities developed to an international career.
Her repertoire ranges from the works of the 18th and 19th centuries to compositions in this day and age.
Ms. Cottone participated in many music premieres and she was the initiator of the first performance of Alfred Shnitke Piano Quintet in Riga.
She participated in author concerts of one of the most famous St-Petersburg's composers Valery Gavrilin, Raimo Kangro (Estonia) as well as Peteris Vasks (Latvia).
She performed in Moscow State Conservatory .
Her recitals included works by Bach, Beethoven, Schumann, Chopin, Debussy, Ravel, Scriabin and many others.
She played a solo concert by Rimsky-Korsakov and Scriabin music in St.-Petersburg in Rimsky-Korsakov's museum on his own piano .
As an avid chamber musician , Irina Cottone has collaborated with talented and enthusiastic musicians from US, Europe and Russia.
She participated in numerous prestige chamber music festivals in US, Germany , Russia, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Armenia, Kazakhstan .
As a piano instructor of Purdue University (US, IN) she gain a valuable experience teaching students in both private in classroom settings.
She always placed a strong emphasis on high artistic interpretation and its presentation , effective learning- music fundamentals, memorization skills , posture , sight-reading , theory and ear training.
As a voice accompanist and voice instructor she gained a valuable experience of teaching, excellent sight-reading and helping students.
Furthermore, her experience includes performances with the most outstanding opera singers
in the US and throughout Europe.
Her collaboration with singers is a special chapter in her musical career.
She was initiator of performing a program devoted to Beethoven, Schubert and Schumann vocal cycles , Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff songs, Hugo Volf songs,
Valery Gavrilin ''German notebook '' , and many, many others.
